THEY SAY that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever. And I’ve always believed them. Until now.

Now everything has changed. Now, I’d rather be infected
with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.

Plot
I cannot imagine being in a loveless world. A world where I can’t love my family or friends or pets sounds so horrible, honestly, I’m surprised people put up with the system in the book, even though they are told love is a disease. I really enjoyed this book and some of the plot twists, although some things were predictable.

Characters

First, let’s talk about Hana: Hana was just so rebellious; I loved the way she questioned things, although in the end, I was disappointed in her because she didn’t have the courage to leave the system like Lena did.

Lena’s mom, even though we never see her, is awesome. She just seemed so happy, and I loved how she was determined to hold onto the love she had for her family–no matter what. She was the one who always said “I love you. Remember. They cannot take it” a phrase that constantly reappears throughout the book.
I liked Alex too! He was such a resistor! He was also stubborn—when he wanted something, he went after it.
Lena gets a most improved award, mainly because at first I didn’t like how she just went along with things and followed the status quo, but she started to rebel and then I loved her more than Hana. Good job with the character development, Oliver.

Setting/Writing Style

I love the beach so the fact that this is at the beach is a huge plus for me. There is another part of the setting I would love to mention, but it’s spoilery. L

I was really impressed with the writing style! It was very poetic and it was one those were the beautiful writing just made the story even better than it would have been without it. (although pretty writing isn’t needed, it enhances the story.)

Total rating: 5 of 5 and favorite.
