haha! I love this so very much. You nailed it…this is so perfect I honestly have nothing to add. I feel like referencing this every time I have trouble rating a book.

This seems just a tad ironic to me XD For 2.5 stars I’d personally have this GIF (http://ed_wp-content_v2.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/gif-lady-gaga-no-panda-yes-Favim.com-240079.gif) No & Yes… You get a bit torn. Like, was I totally bored? I mean, for me. 2* is definitely grumpy cat. 1.5* & 1*… Had slight experiences of that… and 0 star (normally just leave 0-1 stars blank on GR). 1.5* gets two but… eh. GR ratings are too nice. 2* is OK? No, it’s not, really. It’s boring, but OK implies satisfaction. YOU HAVE TO BE AT LIKE 2.5* for that… XD
I loved this post… Especially the GIFs. Great idea for a post! *big grins* You say you have no idea what you’re doing but it’s a lie. You must do. You totally do; I can see the evidence right in front of me. My love for this… asdfghjk. Let’s just say that, OK? 😀

Oh my goodness I LOVE that GIF. That fits it way better than Grumpy Cat. I just sat here this morning like, “Okay, what. Why do we even have all these half stars? Grumpy Cat here, Grumpy Cat here.” But that Yes/No GIF PERFECTLY describes it!

Haha. . . I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t plan out what GIFs I’m using beforehand usually and I just go online, look around a bit and it’s all just whatever strikes my fancy five minutes before I press post.

Well, either works. Don’t be so hard on yourself :L
Grumpy cat can’t be overused on the plus side XD I don’t know… sometimes I have it really planned out. I have a doc saved of loads I liked in advance so that helps 😉 Sometimes words just… fail. GIFs can work SO much better & if they have words too, that’s a plus. HATE-HATE-HATE Grinch 😉 Adore <3

You know what, I’ve never seen it explained in gifs before but you’ve done brilliantly Kelsey! I have a post about ratings coming in about a month or two, and words are hard to find, but the 2 and 2.5 stars were chosen well and 3.5 stars is perfect. Its worth the respect, but is a little bit chalky, if that makes sense! Great post 😀

Haha!! This post is awesome! I love that first gif- I will burn you. Cracking up over here. The grinch one is pretty good too. I’m bad at rating books unless it’s a 1 or a 5. Anything in between I start getting weird about it.

It can be really hard to rate things sometimes. I really like the system we have with rating the three different categories. Helps me to pick an average. There have been a few times that I slapped a rating on a book just to write the review and realize, “Hmm. But this actually averages out to something different. . .”

OH BRILLIANCE. Except I have trouble with rating things 3-stars. I feel like I’m saying I hated it when I’m just saying it was “okay”. *headdesk* I particularly like the 5/5 explosion.

Ugh, I hate rating things 3 stars too. I mean, *I* know that I’m saying it was alright, but do other people? Three starts is still a good rating to me, but I feel like I’m saying, “Hi [author name here], I hated your book.”

HAHAHA. These are spot on! Except 2/5 is more of an eye roll for me while 2.5/5 alternates between boredom or shrugs of indifference because those books weren’t terrible but not particularly good either.

Yeah, I get that. That’s the case sometimes with me. I think I’ve only rated one book 2.5, though. Normally I avoid the .5’s, so to me? Sometimes 2 and 2.5 are pretty similar. I would probably do the shrug of indifference with 2.5, though.
