TV Shows vs Books

If you’re anything like me, you’re a complete fanatic over anything with a good story line that (might) last me awhile. However, because of my obsessions, I’ve noticed a few subtle differences between how we react to TV shows versus the same events happening in books.

Love triangles

In TV shows:

Excited Baby GIF

ALL. THE. FEELS.

In books:

Blow my brains out GIF

Not again. . .

Meeting “the One”

In TV shows:

Excited Man GIF

I SHIP IT.

In books:

Jim Shaking Head GIF

If you bring up his bangs one more time. . .

Changing perspectives

In TV shows:

Cute Mad Bunny Gumball GIF

NO. WHY?!

In books:

Cute Mad Bunny Gumball GIF

NO. WHY?!

Let’s face it–we don’t like being taken out of a character’s perspective once things start getting good.

Passing of time

In TV shows:

Cat watching TV GIF

*notices nothing*

In books:

What Happened Hocus Pocus GIF

Wait. . . What happened? What if something that happened the past two months was important? Did someone rip part of my book out?

Cover art:

In TV shows:

Confused Supernatural

Wait, I’m sorry, it has cover art? The ones on Tumblr or IMDB?

In books:

Double Facepalm Star Trek GIF

If I see one more half face or ball gown on a cover. . . Get creative, people.

When they decide to make a movie

In TV shows:

No Avatar Movie GIF

We cannot do this again.

In books:

Yes Yes Yes GIF

YES. YES. YESSSSSS.

Are there anymore similarities/differences between shows and books that catch your attention? Let me know in the comments below!

Haha, I definitely recognize myself in this, especially when it comes to the love-triangles and meeting ‘the one.’ I guess images make it easier to deal with these things than in books, where you watch details more closely.
